Welcome to Notebook Scoop, your online source for news about netbooks, notebooks, tablets and small computers.
As portable computers become smaller, more powerful and more affordable, keeping track of the dozens of new models and features coming into the marketplace each day becomes quite the task.
We’re here to help you sort through the latest small computers and find the right one for you. I’m Mike Wendland, a longtime tech reporter for radio, TV and newspapers, and this site is a labor of love. I do my best to review and get my hands on all of the various models so I can pass the information on to you. I also watch the newest accessories offered for notebooks, netbooks and tablets.
What is a notebook, netbook or small computer these days? Generally,
A standard notebook has the following features:
1. Ultralight. Less than 3 punds.
2. 4 – 5 hour battery life.
3. No internal floppy drive.
4. No internal DVD or CD system.
6. 10″ – 13″ screen.
7. Low profile and very thin)
8. Integrated modem and network connection.

10. Low power consuming processor.
In essence a notebook computer is designed to provide mobile computing that won’t break your back yet still offer all the power the mobile users requires for work and some leisure pursuits.
Then there are tablets. A tablet is pretty much a complete computer contained in a touch screen. Tablet computers can be specialized for Internet use only or be full-blown, general-purpose PCs. The distinguishing characteristic is the use of the screen as an input device using a stylus or finger. Since the iPad came on the market alsong with a flood of competing devices running on the Android opertang systems, tablets have become even more sophisticated, offering eBook readers, movie and video applications and instant-on Internet connectivity.
